DEPRESSED PERSONS IN BIBLE | MY MOM'S DEPRESSION PHASE | TIPS | PROMISES FROM BIBLE | thejessyrose

Hello my dear Amigos...!

I firstly thank you all for giving such an amazing response on my first blog.

So I am here again with another topic which everyone are speaking about that is "DEPRESSION'

Reading this word Depression don't get depressed but today I am gonna share about seven people who went through this Depression phase and admitted that they wanted to die but still they obey the God and stood as an inspiration to us. Not just about them but I am also gonna share my mom's story of how she got out of that phase & also God's promises for depressed.

Starting of these seven characters:-

1.DAVID

If you go through 1 Samuel & 2 Samuel you can see the life of David.
How he was troubled and battled deep despair.

2. ELIJAH

If you check out 1 Kings 17-19 & 2 Kings 1-2 there you can find how Elijah was discouraged, weary & afraid.

3. JONAH

If you read this Book of Jonah you can find out how he was angry and wanted to ran away.

4. JOB

Open the Book of Job there you will find how Job suffered through great loss, devastation & physical illness.

5. MOSES

PS my favorite character in Bible :) okay if you check the Book of Exodus you can see how Moses, being a leader grieved over the sin of his people.

6. JEREMIAH

Read the Book of Jeremiah and know how Jeremiah has wrestled with great loneliness, feelings of defeat & insecurity.

7. JESUS CHRIST

Yes you read it right!
Christ himself was deeply anguished over what lay before Him.

So these are the seven persons about them we knew already.
Though they were in great pain & suffering they still obeyed the Lord and stood as an great example to us.

Now coming to my mom's story.... She has faced most horrific & tragic situations in her life. I am not gonna dig into what was the situation but I like to share how she managed to get out of it and overcome her depression phase and what did she do?
I am gonna share what I witnessed by myself when I was kid.
So back then, there wasn't much technology as we have now. She didn't have anyone to share with about what she was going through, so to get herself out of that depression, to help herself to cope up with her life this is what she used to do:-

  • She used to read Holy Bible maximum of her time & also many christian books. Definitely I call her as Bibliophile which I acquired from her... PS I am not a bookworm like her but I still love & enjoy reading books. 50% of our house is filled with books :)
  • She applied for higher education, though she finished her graduation & working as an Government employee. She decided to keep herself occupied. I still remember the days when she used to sacrifice her sleep to study.
  • She used to do gardening, spending time with nature always gives inner peace and gives relaxation right guys?
  • She used to design & stitch clothes of mine by herself and till my 10th standard I only used to wear those.
  • Not just these activities she is very hard working person and every of superior appreciate her work and was given promotions in her work and certified that she is loyal and hard working at her work.
  • Apart from all these she took a very good care of me. She never ignored or neglected anything related to me. She used to teach me, make sure I finish my homework properly by being with me. She used to encourage me to participate in every activity. She used to sit & help me with every of my project work. Most of you know how deeper bond we share with each other.
So all I wanted to tell is that keep yourself engaged with the works which you love, it may be singing or dancing or painting or cooking or organizing blablabla whatever it is work on what you love, discover what you are passionate about and spend your time more productively by walking with God & doing what pleases Him.

So now let's quickly see the Promises of God for the Depressed.

DEUTERONOMY 31:8

He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

PSALM 34:18

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed those who are crushed in spirit.

ISAIAH 49:13-15

(V.13) Shout for joy, you heavens; rejoice, you earth; burst into song, you mountains! For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.
(V.14) But Zion said, "The Lord has forsaken me, the lord has forgotten me."
(V.15) Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you.

ROMANS 5:5

And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Woah! such an amazing promise! Yes my dear Amigos, we are not alone. God promised us, He will never leave nor forsake so don't be afraid or discouraged. Lord is close to us, he will save us. He will not forget us. Let's put our hope in Him, because Hope will not put us to shame, His love is poured into our hearts.

Let's pray together

Father, thank you for being with me, you never left me nor forsake me. Help me not to be afraid or discouraged. Help me to put hope in you Lord. Amen!
